Stirring Up Something Better

Like all good culinary upgrades, Peggy Bakes started with a problem. Granola was either overly sweet or pretending to be healthy when it wasn’t. So, I did what great bakers do. I made my own.

I swapped refined sugar for nature’s good stuff (dates, raw honey, pure maple syrup).

I chose ingredients that taste as good as they feel. And what started as a quest to make a healthier granola turned into one that tasted better in every way. Plenty of grocery staples have proved that better-for-you can still bring the flavor. It can be bold. It can be addictive. Now, it’s granola’s turn.

I may have started with just a mixing bowl and a mission, but I didn’t build this business alone. From late-night recipe tweaks to early-morning market setups, I’ve had the steady support of people and programs across Wisconsin who are passionate about helping small businesses thrive.

Organizations like the SBDC, Progress Lakeshore, and the Food Finance Institute have offered guidance, encouragement, and real tools to help me grow Peggy Bakes with intention. I’m proud to share a peek at the incredible (and often free!) resources that fueled this journey—because every entrepreneur deserves a strong start.
