FAQ

  • Is the granola dairy free?

Yes. Every flavor in the lineup is dairy-free.

  • Is the granola gluten free?

Yes – and it’s exciting news.  Peggy Bakes granola is now baked in a dedicated gluten-free facility, which means we’ve officially moved from “gluten friendly” to fully gluten free.

Up until this point, Peggy Bakes granola ingredients have been naturally gluten free.  What changed is our kitchen.  A dedicated gluten-free facility lets us make this promise without an asterisk.  We’ve also upgraded our oats to Purity Protocol – the gold standard for gluten-free and glyphosate-free oats, stricter than organic. (See “What does Purity Protocol mean” below).  It’s a real upgrade for our customers who need it most.

  • What does Purity Protocol mean – and why do you use it?

Purity Protocol is stricter than organic.  Here’s why we switched: When I started Peggy Bakes I used certified organic gluten-free oats and felt great about them.  Then I started reading.  Turns out, “organic” tells you how the oats were grown – but not whether they ever touched wheat.  Most gluten-free oats are sorted by machine after harvest from shared fields, shared transport, and shared storage.  The default. Mostly safe.  But not actually safe for someone with celiac.

Purity Protocol is the gold standard.  The oats are kept fully separate from wheat, barley, and rye at every step – dedicated farms, dedicated transport, dedicated storage – with third-party testing along the way.  Plus glyphosate-free.

  • Do you use organic ingredients?

Yes, wherever we can.  Our oats now meet Purity Protocol standards (stricter than organic – see “What does Purity Protocol mean”).  Beyond the oats, we use organic date syrup, organic cinnamon, organic raw unsweetened coconut chips, organic dried blueberries, and organic raw pumpkin seeds.

  • How long will the granola stay fresh?

12 months from the production date, sealed. Once opened, plan to enjoy it within 7-10 days for the best flavor – or pop the bag in the freezer to extend its life without losing the crunch.

  • How should I store the granola?

Keep sealed bags at room temperature (68-72°F / 20-22°C). After opening, the refrigerator extends freshness; the freezer keeps it crunchy for months.

  • Do you ship?

Yes – anywhere in the contiguous U.S.  If you’d rather grab a bag in person, the store locator shows where Peggy Bakes is on shelves at independently-owned shops near you.

  • What changed with the new flavor names?

Nothing. Same recipes, new names that finally match their personalities. Cherry Pecan is now Orchard Reserve. Lemon Blueberry is Hello, Sunshine. Cinnamon Nut is The Grain Escape. Cocoa Almond is Cocoa Noir. (And Golden Grove — our newest flavor — has joined the lineup.) Recipes haven’t changed, the bags just got a glow-up.
